First Beaver on Last Day of Season

Trapping is one of the best ways to really learn about wildlife and their habits and it is also a great way to spend time outdoors with friends and family.

After nearly a week of observing beaver activity in a remote western Montana pond Thad Lucas finally placed a trap in the right spot.   Thad wanted to learn to trap and asked his friend Harry Marvin to show him the basics.  To become ordained as a Montana Trapper, Thad decided that beaver trapping would be a good place to start.

After a few failed attempts to put the traps in the right travel routes over a spillway on a beaver dam Thad finally connected on the last day of the 2016-2017 furbearer season. Congratulations to Montana Trapper Thad Lucas on his first trapping success.  We hope it is the first of many!
