Fishing seminars on lakes and reservoirs are far and few between in Missoula. That’s why the folks at Bretz RV and Marine in Missoula are eager to offer up three free fishing seminars this Saturday May 6th to help anglers catch more fish, after all don’t we all want to catch more fish. The lineup of speakers will have something for the novice and the seasoned angler.

Trevor and Kit Johnson from Kits Tackle, Mike Howe from A Able Charters and Dick Zimmer from Zimmer’s Tackle are personable, full of information and eager to pass that fishing information on to you. On top of that you can enjoy a free steak or chicken meal just for coming out to Bretz this Saturday too! Kicking the seminars off at 9:30 the father-son duo, Kit and Trevor who also own KT Sportfishing will cover “Jigging the Dream for Walleye and Trout on Montana lakes” with their seminar. Based out of Helena, the Johnsons know all the reservoirs near Capitol City like the back of their hands. Of course, those reservoirs-Canyon Ferry, Hauser, and Holter all offer excellent walleye, trout, and perch fishing.

Their seminars are always informative and fun to listen to. Next up at 11am with a Missoula first will be Mike Howe to cover how to locate and catch Chinook salmon on Fort Peck Reservoir. I will join Howe as we explain what equipment you will need, tackle to use, how to locate Chinook salmon, and explain proven trolling techniques. I am personally excited to be a part of this special seminar because of the interest that folks from Western Montana have shown in wanting to know how to go about catching 14 to 20 pound salmon out of Fort Peck Reservoir.

Last year was a banner year for salmon on Fort Peck and this year the experts are hoping for the same catch rate. Howe will also touch on Lake Trout trolling techniques that you can use effectively on both Flathead Lake and Fort Peck Reservoir. If you prefer jigging for fish then you will want to join Dick Zimmer, aka the Mackman, from Zimmer’s Tackle for his free seminar at 12:30pm. Zimmer specializes on the Flathead Lake fishery, with timely and useful techniques on how to jig for lake trout, Lake Whitefish, and perch. He will also cover the relatively new smallmouth bass fishing that Flathead Lake has to offer with suggestions on when, how and where to try and catch some of these underwater fighters on the south end of the lake. Zimmer who also has had some great success fishing for kokanee on Lake Mary Ronan will touch on some tips to find and catch salmon too!

So, if you are a trout, walleye, bass, or salmon lake angler then Bretz RV and Marine in Missoula is where you will want to be to talk fishing. The doors open at 9am and as I mentioned earlier you will want to take advantage of the free steak and chicken dinner, they start serving at 11am. Fill your mind and tantalize your taste buds at Bretz this Saturday located at 4800 Grant Creek Road in Missoula.
