Seeley Lake, Montana – The Cottonwood Lakes Road (#477) on the Seeley Lake Ranger District will be closed between the junction with the Kozy Corner road (#9976) and Monture Road (#89) beginning June, 6th for road maintenance and road reconstruction work. The closure will only be in place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week. The closure is expected to last until the end of June.

The Seeley Lake Ranger District has initiated the work to improve road driving conditions and also provide some resource protection for local streams.

This Best Management Practices (BMP) project will reconstruct 13 miles of the Cottonwood Lakes Road 477 from the intersection with the Morrell Mountain Road to the intersection with Monture Creek road. The project will also reconstruct 3.3 miles of the Lower Cottonwood Road 9976 from the end of the Kozy Corner road to the intersection with Cottonwood Lake road 477.

Road work will include road blading, road surface improvement, road drainage improvement, and roadside brush removal. The work will improve road drivability, and will reduce environmental impacts through improved drainage.

For updates on the status of the work please contact the Seeley Lake Ranger District at (406) 677-2233.
