Join Makoshika’s Park Ranger on a Wilderness Walk in Makoshika on Saturday, July 8, 2017. The walk is part of the Montana Wilderness Association’s Backcountry Wilderness Walk Series held statewide each year. This year¿s hike in Makoshika will be on the Vista Trail, a road to trail project that provides three miles of non-motorized trail in the park accessing some of the more remote areas of the park. The four-mile round-trip hike is rated as moderate in difficulty; please bring anything you may need to be comfortable, such as appropriate clothing and footwear, insect repellent, water, etc.
For more than 50 years, the Montana Wilderness Association has been working with communities across the state to protect Montana’s wilderness heritage, quiet beauty, and outdoor traditions. The grassroots conservation proved instrumental in the passage of the 1964 Wilderness Act and in the designation of all 15 wilderness areas in Montana, and currently has more than 5,500 members.
