(Helena, MT) – Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) has issued a decision notice for a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for proposed facility improvements at Hell Creek State Park near Jordan, MT.

The decision notice recommends moving forward with the replacement and relocation of the public water storage system. The proposed improvements will also remove the fish cleaning station from the primary septic system and construct a dedicated system designed to handle the unique quality of the water effluent. The projects were identified by two independent consultants as priority public health and safety infrastructure needs. By notification of this Decision Notice the Draft (EA) is hereby made the Final EA.

It was determined that the proposed action would have no significant effects on the human or physical environment. Therefore, an environmental impact statement will not be prepared.

A public comment process for the proposed project was open from June 12 through July 13, 2017. Twenty-four comments were received. Comments and responses are summarized in the decision notice.

This decision notice action is subject to appeal, which must be submitted to Montana State Parks’ Administrator in writing and postmarked within 30 days (by September 14, 2017) of this decision notice. The appeal must specifically describe the basis for the appeal, explain how the appellant has previously commented to the Department or participated in the decision-making process, and how FWP might address the concerns of the appeal.
