Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks announced two upcoming classes in Helena for outdoorsmen looking to build their skills or begin hunting.

The first class takes place Sept. 27 and is titled “The hunting experience you want,” according to a FWP news release. Topics covered will include how navigate regulations, selecting permits and licenses, and the tools available for mapping and planning hunts.

From Field to Freezer, the second course, will be held Oct. 6. It will cover the necessary steps to take once an animal is down to preserve the meat. Topics include field dressing, transporting and processing wild game. This work shop will include hands-on experiences including a field dressing demo.

Both courses take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Montana WILD Education Center, located at 2668 Broadwater Ave, next to Spring Meadow Lake State Park off Highway 12 West in Helena.

The workshops are hosted and instructed by FWP, Montana Wildlife Federation and Helena Hunters and Anglers. No pre-registration is required.
