Montana Trappers Teaching The Trade
By Toby Trigger

One of the best reasons to join hard working organizations like the Montana Trappers Association is the opportunity to learn.

Trappers from all over Montana assemble in Lewistown annually to buy, sell, swap and trade everything from traps and shovels to first hand knowledge.

This year’s event is Saturday September 9th at the Fergus County Fairgrounds.

Trappers from eastern Montana may be interested in marten trapping because they’ve never seen one or trappers from the west might enjoy coyote snaring because the techniques are taught from the perspective of a trapper who uses sage brush sets in ope country.

There’s something to learn for everyone and the trap setting contests, skillet toss and camaraderie all come together to make learning America’s last best outdoor art fun.

If you get the opportunity to attend one of these events – just go!  You’ll be glad you did.
