Good afternoon: you’ve probably been hearing about the Missoula hunter, Ethan Donaldson, who killed his first-ever bull elk on the last day of Montana’s rifle season only to find the next morning that the head had been stolen from his truck.

In an effort to support Donaldson, the local community and the greater community of sportsmen and women, the Montana chapter of Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to the recovery of Donaldson’s elk and the conviction of the person or people responsible. (The reward monies were provided by a private donor.) Here’s a link to details on the BHA blog.

And here’s a quote from BHA Montana Chapter Chair John Sullivan, who lives in Missoula:

“I hope that someone comes forward with the information needed to recover Ethan’s elk, and I hope it leads to a conviction. This action is disgraceful, and the perpetrators should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. If you know who stole Ethan’s elk, I urge you to stand up for what us right and be part of the solution – turn them in!

“I am a proud Montana hunter, and this action is not representative of the hunting community at large. I’d like to personally thank the private donor for the generosity and allowing us to offer this reward for a mighty cause.”

There you have it–let’s help find Ethan’s bull and have the thief/thieves prosecuted!
