Fishing report for the Lower Madison River for the week of January 6, 2018:

Reports from today have been pretty good on the Lower. It sounds like the slush finally cleared out, at least upstream of Blacks Ford. The fish wanted the usual Winter fare today. Pink or Gray Scuds or Sow Bugs and Midge Pupas. Apparently tangerine Eggs had their moments below the dam as well. It’s important to fish slow and deep right now. If you find one fish in a spot, there should be a bunch more in the same area.

Fins & Feathers is a full-service Bozeman fly shop and Montana fly fishing outfitter. Lower Madison River fly fishing trips are available year-round with our Bozeman fly fishing guides.
