The SHOT Show® (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show™) ended a couple of weeks ago. I thought it might be interesting to look at some of the new offerings in the firearms world. There are literally thousands of new items introduced at this event. We’ll start with my favorite category, shotguns and in the coming weeks look at some other firearms and accessories that caught my attention. I hope you also find them interesting.

Mossberg® has two new shotguns coming to market. The first is the box magazine fed 590M pump action shotgun. This 12 gauge gun comes with a 10 round magazine, 18.5 inch barrel, and the Mossberg® Accu-Choke system. Aftermarket magazines holding up to 20 rounds will be available. Mossberg® has also introduced a 590® Shockwave in 20 gauge. This hand held shotgun has been classified as a “firearm” by ATF and is not subject to NFA regulations. The gun weighs about 5 pounds, has a 14 1/3 inch barrel and holds six rounds. This might be a very good home defense gun for nearly everyone, especially small-framed adults.

IWI US, Inc. has introduced a really cool bullpup shotgun, the Tavor TS12. The gun weighs 8 pounds, is chambered for both 12 gauge 2 ¾(5) and 3(4) inch shells. The barrel is 18.5 inches long with an overall length of only 28 1/3 inches. The shotgun also sports a full length 1913 rail as standard equipment.
Fabarm  is bringing its STF-12 to American shores. This monolithic aluminum receiver, pump action gun offers interchangeable barrels of 11-, 14-, 18-, 20- and 22-inch lengths. Beware, some of these options are subject to NFA regulations. Suggested retail is $ 1195.

Remington has also entered the detachable box magazine market with the 870DM. This venerable pump gun should be a hit with “Big Green’s” loyal customers. Equipped with a 6 round magazine, 18.5 inch barrel, a starting price of $ 529, and 870™ reliability , this smoothbore should be a hit for America’s oldest gun maker.

Now for us sporting and hunting enthusiasts, here are a couple of shiny new pieces.
Browning® has 3 new 725 Citori™ shotguns including a “Golden Clays” trap model. This O/U has 30 or 32 inch ported barrels, grade V/VI black walnut stocks finished in Browning’s high gloss, 5 Invector™ Plus chokes, and polished blue metal with a gold enhanced silver nitride receiver. This is a very attractive gun that has the reliable Citori® action in a low profile receiver. It should be a hit on the clay target ranges.

Caesar Guerini® has introduced a couple of limited edition smoothbores. First the Ellipse Curve Gold Sporting; this 12 gauge gun is available with either 30 or 32 inch barrels, 26 lpi checkering on some of the loveliest wood you will ever see, and 6 Maxis™ chokes. Also available in limited quantities is the Essex Gold upland gun. Available in 20 and 28 gauge, these guns weigh about 6 ½ pounds, have case-colored receivers and hand rubbed oil stocks.

Both of these limited edition guns are quite expensive, but every now and then we all deserve a little extra something. I have a Guerini trap combo and it is a real treat to shoot. Check out https://gueriniusa.com/ for more information on these special guns.
Next week we’ll check out more new cool stuff.

Be safe and good shooting.
