Wildlife managers in Wyoming are tabling the debate to allow crossbow hunting during archery season as they seek more information on the practice.

Montana Untamed reported crossbow hunting is currently allowed during archery season in Wyoming. Wyoming Game and Fish Department are examining how technology like modern crossbows and trail cameras give hunters an advantage.

While biologists and wardens look at the extended ranges crossbows allow hunters the weapons will continue to be allowed during archery season. The state’s wildlife commission previously recommended banning their use during archery season.

Montana does not currently allow the use of crossbows during seasons designated for archery equipment.
