Fishing:

Canyon Ferry/Hauser/Holter: The lakes have been starting to break up and hopefully over the next couple weeks we’ll get better access to get out on the boats.  For now most of the lakes are a bit transitional as ice is thinning and breaking out.  There are a few reports of several boat ramps opening up but do call ahead and verify as some are still jammed up.

Missouri River:  The water is open and the boat ramps are clear so it’s time to get the boat on the water and start throwing some lines.  Conditions wise, water flows are above average and water temp is colder than normal so the fishing is a bit up and down with the weather swings.  The bite has picked up since last week and guys are having pretty good luck from boats and land…I’d steer clear of wading until water flows change. BWOs are coming soon so focus on BWO nymphs for now, midge nymphs, and worms—pink is the current color of choice.
