Outdoor recreation and public access are important to Montana’s way of life and economy, and these topics will be the center of attention at the upcoming Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 1 Citizen Advisory Committee meeting.
The CAC meeting is Thursday, May 31 at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center, 300 Lone Pine Road in Kalispell. A public presentation featuring Montana State Parks Administrator Beth Shumate and Montana Office of Outdoor Recreation Director Rachel VandeVoort will begin at 7 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Established in 1996, the CAC meets approximately 5-6 times a year from September through May and works with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks to provide information, ideas and initiatives in a setting that welcomes diverse interests.
FWP is seeking new volunteer applicants to serve terms of 2-3 years on the citizen committee. FWP would like individuals with multi-faceted enthusiasm for the outdoors who will provide advice and perspective on a wide range of issues involving sportsmen, fisheries, wildlife, parks, enforcement and recreation. FWP tries to balance membership from across northwest Montana to ensure the CAC embodies a far-reaching perspective.
While there are no formal qualifications to serve on the CAC, members will be sought who have been active in their local communities, are willing to work collaboratively, have a general understanding of public policies and resource issues and who represent a variety of interest groups and geographic communities across the region.
The deadline to apply for the FWP Region 1 CAC is Aug. 1. To apply, contact Dillon Tabish at (406) 751-4564 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
