Northwestern Energy removed downed power lines from the Clark Fork River on the west side of Missoula this week, prompting officials to remove the river closure from Reserve Street Bridge to Kelly Island that had been in place since May.

This river section was closed May 14, due to dangers power from the submerged power lines that fell during spring flooding.  Removal of this closure means that the entire Clark Fork and its access sites are once again open to recreation.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks reminds floaters and others that this year’s flood conditions led to an extra amount of debris and log jams in the Clark Fork and other area rivers.  Use caution, scout ahead, and always wear a life jacket.
