The Kootenai National Forest is interested in receiving your comments on a proposal to increase the fees charged at several recreation sites and new fees at two campgrounds and three new cabin rentals.  See the Recreation Fee Proposal brochure, and district specific handouts for the specific sites and fees proposed.

These fees are only proposed, new or increased fees will be determined based on public comment and further analysis. More information can be found at www.fs.usda.gov/goto/r1recfee . Comments will be taken directly through the website (interactive), by emailing r1recfee@fs.fed.us, or calling (406) 293-6211, though October 10, 2018.  New fees, if approved, would be implemented starting May 1, 2019.

The Kootenai Forest retains 80-95 percent of the fees collected. The collections are used to operate, maintain or improve these campgrounds, cabins and lookouts.  In addition to the fee recreation sites listed there are an additional 16 campgrounds, several day use sites, and over 600 dispersed campsite across the forest where no fee is charged or proposed.

The fees can be found here: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/kootenai/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD592068
