While backcountry elk hunting in September a friend brought along his lightweight pyramid tent that can be heated by a fold-up titanium wood stove. Similar shelters, although pricey, are becoming popular for their ability to warm hunters, anglers and backcountry skiers, snowboarders and snowmobilers. The tents set up in minutes, as do the stoves. The shelters come in different sizes to accommodate a couple of folks, or a whole crew. Having the ability to warm up and dry out on a backcountry trip is pretty invaluable.
