The number of hunters getting out into the field was below average in most areas over the fifth weekend of the general hunting season. White-tailed and mule deer harvest was below average throughout southwest Montana, the southern portion of region 3 continues to report higher harvest rates for elk. Hunters are encouraged to head outside for a final push before the season closes on Sunday. (via MT FWP)
