The reports continue to be pretty darn good from the Bighorn. It’s been cold but the weather looks like it should be quite a bit warmer this coming week. Nymphing has been a great option using pink and orange scuds or sowbugs. It is good to trail these patterns with a midge pupa in black or red. Of course a hares ear and pheasant tail will work all winter as will worm patterns. There has still been some dry fly action on the Horn, primarily midges, so a very small parachute, griffiths gnat, or cluster midge have worked well to trick rising fish. Great weather in the Fort Smith area with high temperatures of 30 degress today but a high up to 40 by Monday! The Bighorn is still a great fishing option if you are willing to drive.
