The elk was shot without permission on private land. The head was removed and most of the meat was wasted.

It is believed to be a mature bull elk.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to please contact Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 7 Warden Sergeant Todd Anderson at 406-853-7300, or call 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to a conviction.
