Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) announced today that beginning Friday, March 1, 2019 no alcoholic beverages of any kind will be allowed in Sluice Boxes State Park.

With the support of local law enforcement and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) wardens, Montana State Parks has taken this step to reduce the risk of accidents due to intoxication and decrease the amount of alcohol related litter left in the backcountry. The alcohol ban will be strictly enforced by FWP enforcement.

“We feel this will improve the overall experience at Sluice Boxes State Park, especially for families,” said Regional Park Manager, John Taillie. “It will also lower the risk of accidents, injury, and the need for search and rescue efforts, which have increased over the past few years.”
