PRETZEL RUB

Montanans already enjoy Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels. The South Dakota pretzels have a unique flavor. Many local stores like Murdoch’s, and grocers sell these delicious snacks.

Recently Montana Lin bought me a sack of Dot’s Pretzel Rub for pork, chicken, and fish. All three are on the menu at our house. We especially enjoy unique fish recipes. This product comes crushed like bread crumbs but is crushed pretzels.

Directions for use require that the meat be washed and dried with a towel. The sack directions said to sprinkle on the meat and rub it in 2-3 times. The meat is now ready to bake, fry, or grill.

We tried our new rub with fresh caught trout from a recent ice fishing trip. The rainbow trout filets were skinned. I covered the filets and fried them in olive oil. The fish were different and tasty. The rub added a different taste and some crunch to the filets.

Any crushed pretzels or snack foods should also do the trick. Crushed potato chips and other chips will work in a pinch. I am wondering what Cheese Curls might be like.

Try some of these ideas for a different and new flavor.
