Dream On (with Colonel Smoothbore)

Sometimes, even old guys like myself dream of how we might spend our lottery winnings. Of course it would helpful if I won. Oh well, I thought it might be fun to look at some of my “dream” guns. Here’s ten to start with. It might be difficult not to drool.

  1. A John Rigby® bolt rifle chambered in .416 Rigby. Off to the Dark Continent with thoughts of Robert Ruark and Harry Selby speeding up the flight.
  2. A Boss & Co. side by side in 16 gauge; I hope I live through the waiting period.
  3. STI® DVC race gun; lots of speed, I hope my new knee can keep up.
  4. A Caesar Guerini® Invictus V Trap Combo. There are many equally great and much more expensive trap combos around, but the engineering and beauty in this gun has really captured my imagination.
  5. A Kimber® Classic Select chambered in .280 Ackley Improved. Six pounds, two ounces of blued steel and gorgeous walnut with nearly the punch of a 7MM mag. Sheep beware!
  6. A brace of Browning® Maxis autoloaders. A Maxis Ultimate for the sporting clays course and a 3 ½ inch 12 gauge Wicked Wing® in Realtree® Max 5 for the turkey blind.
  7. A Smith & Wesson® Model 629 Stealth Hunter. 7 ½ inches of nasty black handgun.
  8. A Winchester® Model 70 Super Grade chambered in .338 Winchester Magnum. My classic moose medicine.
  9. A James Purdey & Sons 28 gauge side by side. This Purdey might be too pretty to shoot, but the quail won’t know the difference.
  10. A Browning® Superposed OU, preferably Dianna Grade. I’ve lusted for this gun since my youth.

That’s just a start, but first I have to check my lucky numbers. I hope you enjoyed the eye candy and let us know what some of your favorites are.

Be safe and good shooting.
