Wildflower walk today

Spring is in bloom and Montana State Parks invites you to enjoy the outdoors with ranger-guided Wildflower Walks at Lone Pine State Park this May.

On Saturday, May 11th from 10:00am to 11:30am, learn about local flora from park staff and discover which wildflowers are blooming in the park as you explore on this 2-mile hike. On Friday, May 17 from 8:00pm to 9:00pm, take in the beauty of local wildflowers as the sun sets with a 1-mile guided hike through Lone Pine. Learn how to identify common wildflowers and what role they play in the Flathead Valley.

Hikers should wear weather appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear and bring water and a snack. Cameras are also welcome. Cost is: $4 for hikers 13 and older, 12 and younger are free. Registration is required for both hikes and space is limited. Please call 406-755-2706 ext.0 to reserve your spot.

Lone Pine State Park is located 5 miles southwest of Kalispell and offers one of the most vivid views of the valley, 7.5 miles of trails, and a beautiful interpretive center that provides information on living in a wildlife urban interface.  Additional amenities include a picnic shelter and a community room, which are both available to rent, as well as a volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and an archery range. Furthermore, Lone Pine offers a fantastic variety of educational and interpretive programs.
