It was a great weekend fishing Chinook salmon on Fort Peck Reservoir for Bill “The Salmon Slayer” Zahradka and his wife Shelly.  The Wolf Point couple got into the salmon on Saturday, and the bite didn’t stop for them until they pulled off the water on Sunday.

The Slayer was fishing around York Island, west of Haxby, Duck Creek, and the face of the dam right in front of the Marina. They sent montanaoutdoor.com the seven biggest salmon that weighed in as much as 16 pounds.
“They take line off the reel upon being released from the downrigger and fight all the way to the boat with two or three runs”, said the Slayer.
They caught most of the salmon with their junk down 80-90 feet over 120-159 feet of water. Saturday a pink squid did the trick, and Sunday the green squid was the hot lure.
The action was fast and furious and at the end of the trip Shelly needed a little rest.
