Man dies trying to summit Granite Peak

A 65-year-old Minnesota man died Saturday afternoon when he fell 150-feet trying to summit Montana’s tallest peak.

The man’s climbing partner told authorities that the man fell 200 feet from the summit. The partner reported the death after he climbed to the base of the mountain and got to an area with cell service.

The peak is 12,977 feet tall.
