From Musselshell County Sheriff

The Musselshell County Sheriff and a Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Warden responded to the report of a dead bull elk east of Roundup, Montana. Upon investigation, it was determined the bull elk died of a single gun shot. The entire bull, a mature six point, was left to rot in the field. If you have have any information about this crime, PLEASE call me or

TIP-MONT, which is Montana’s toll-free hotline to report poaching and other crimes. It stands for “Turn In Poachers Montana.” Call 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for cash rewards. This type of crime is incomprehensible and should not be something that members of our community can turn a blind-eye too.

INVESTIGATION UPDATE: A second mature bull has been located in close proximity to where the first bull was located and as I am writing this, the Dispatch Center just received information about a third elk being located. If you have any information about this incident, please contact TIP-MONT or call the Sheriff’s Office. This is a horrendous crime and the individuals that perpetrated it need to be held accountable!
