I love revolvers, they have been a staple of my shooting since my teenage years and no, I did not personally know Samuel Colt. Recently we looked at the new Kimber K6s. Now here are a couple of wish list guns for you wheelgun aficionados. Both companies are German.
The JANZ Präzisionstechnik JTL-S (Janz) revolvers are produced by a small family owned business near Hamburg Germany. They are built to incredibly tight tolerances. Janz makes guns that are chambered in everything from .22 Long Rifle up to the powerful .500 S&W Magnum. The JANZ-Revolver Typ S, quick change system uses one frame and has interchangeable barrels and cylinders for .22 LR up to .454 Casull. The gun also comes with .357 and .44 Magnum barrels. Cost? As the adage goes, if you have to ask, you can’t afford it. Barrel lengths in 2 ½ to 12 inches are available.
Korth Arms is another German specialty gun maker. The produce both semi-auto pistols and double- action revolvers. Originally Korth revolvers were made by Janz. In 2008, Andreas Weber and Martin Rothmann took over the company. Today, Korth Arms employs about 25 highly skilled and experienced people. It can be argued they make the world’s finest precision revolvers. These are not your Grand Dad’s guns. The Korth Combat Magnum in .357 starts at $5000.00! From that starting point prices go up, as does the beauty. The Korth Damascus .357 is a cool $37,000.00. The precision craftsmanship of these guns is unsurpassed. If you enjoy firearms and fine engineering, Korth is for you. Recently Nighthawk® Custom Firearms enter into a joint venture with Korth to market some of their revolvers. Nighthawk® manufactures some truly great pistols.
I’m sure I’ll probably never own a Janz or Korth revolver; they are just part of a bucket list that most likely will go unfilled, but dreams and wishes are a part of what makes our lives so fun. After looking at these German masterpieces, I guess the next time I see an S&W Performance Center 627 on sale for $1000.00, it just might seem like a theft.
