Talk about a life change. Bozeman resident Matt Skoglund and his wife, Sarah, decided in 2018 to invest much of their savings in a new venture – bison ranching. After buying land along the Bridger Mountains near Wilsall, the couple stocked the acreage with bison. Unique to their operation is the way those bison are slaughtered for their meat. Matt drives out into the field and shoots one, guts it and hauls it to a nearby meat processor. It has been a learning experience for the Skoglunds since they had no prior experience in ranching.
