Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) and Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park will host the free online event “The Birds of Lewis & Clark Caverns” on Friday, May 29, at 8pm via Zoom.

Join Montana Audubon staff members Amy Seaman and Carmen Borchelt as they present The Birds of Lewis & Clark Caverns, a program celebrating the avian inhabitants of the park. Their talk will provide an introduction to Montana Audubon and how the organization uses citizen science and their community’s love of bird watching to impact bird, wildlife, and habitat conservation. They will also highlight a handful of Montana bird species of concern, and share spectacular photos of unique, abundant, and fun residents of the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park area. This is the second talk in the park’s annual Summer Speakers Series for 2020, which introduces a new speaker each Friday throughout the summer.

This online event will take place using Zoom Meetings. Participants will join in by clicking on the Zoom link on the event post on the Lewis & Clark Caverns Facebook page or by contacting Emily.dickerson@mt.gov.

Amy Seaman is the Director of Science and Policy at Montana Audubon. She joined the organization in 2013 to work on the Important Bird Area (IBA) Program and many other bird conservation projects. She joined the MT Audubon team after earning her M.S. in Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno, and after spending many seasons surveying birds out west and in Montana in particular.

Carmen Borchelt is the Big Sky Watershed Corps member serving at Montana Audubon. Carmen packed her bags and moved to beautiful Missoula, Montana in 2014. There she received her Bachelor of Science in Resource Conservation at the University of Montana. Her experiences in Montana led her to work at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park, where she conducted cave tours.
