Hamilton, Montana – The Bitterroot National Forest is planning to install a new culvert on Reynolds Creek on the Darby/Sula Ranger District.  The work is scheduled to begin on May 11 and continue for approximately two weeks.  Heavy equipment from the project will be parked on Road #432 about 1.5 miles past the Martin Creek Campground, making the road impassable.

Signs will be posted in the area alerting drivers to the road work.

The forest is replacing the culvert at this locations along with doing road repairs and other improvements.  The current culvert is not sufficient in size and during high runoff may pose potential risks to the road.  Besides increasing stream flows, the new culvert incorporates stream simulation to improve the passage of fish and other aquatic organisms.

For more information contact the Darby/Sula Ranger District at (406) 821-3913.
