If your fishing was off a bit at Fort Peck Reservoir last week, I may know why. Monday through Wednesday I visited Devil’s Creek Recreation Area on the southwest side of the large lake, and a black cloud tends to follow. It was my first time visiting that remote spot, located between Crooked Creek and Hell Creek. The wind howled, making fishing tough, but it’s still a cool area to visit with a lot less traffic than other camping and fishing spots along the lake, probably because of the steep road in and out of there. To read more about my adventure, the history of the area and some of the entrepreneurs looking to capitalize on traffic to the region, check out my story at https://billingsgazette.com/lifestyles/recreation/devils-creek-recreation-area-lures-hardy-fort-peck-reservoir-travelers/article_61ee25aa-a490-530f-89df-413158d88eec.html
