NEWS RELEASE from the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office:

This office has received 2 reports of vandalism in the Wise River/Fishtrap area in the past 3 weeks.  If there have been other incidents of vandalism in the area, they have not yet been reported to our agency.  As you drive from Divide to Wisdom you pass through Silver Bow, Beaverhead, and Deer Lodge counties, then back into our jurisdiction at Fishtrap.

One case actually occurred in Deer Lodge County, which was referred to that agency.  It is possible there have been other incidents reported to Silver Bow or Deer Lodge counties.

The Bryant Creek campground incident that occurred the weekend of June 12 &13 is under investigation by our Wisdom Deputy.  The reporting parties had tires and rafts slashed and some rafts cut loose, setting them adrift down the river.  At this time we have not identified any suspects in this incident.

We rely on, and appreciate the support and assistance from the public, both residents and visitors from outside Beaverhead County.  Citizens are a tremendous resource, as we need those eyes and ears out there watching their own and their neighbor’s property.

If anyone has information to help identify the suspects in this case, please call and ask for Deputy Ken Peterson at (406)683-3700.

As the saying goes “if you see something, say something”.
