Brett French presents: Red Lodge homeowner shoos black bears out of house

It may not have been the best method, but it worked. Red Lodge resident Kathy Kenyon urged a black bear mom and two cubs out of her kitchen by clapping, yelling and making creative use of a window screen. The bears had broken in through a kitchen window by pushing out the screen. Once inside, they dined on peaches and Hershey’s chocolate. The momma bear in Kenyon reacted forcefully by shooing the animals out. Fish, Wildlife & Parks has set up a culvert trap to remove the bears, since such actions are frowned upon. It’s a good reminder to keep bear attractants away from your house, and to maybe close the windows.
