Fire burning near Old Faithful at 820 acres

A fire burning in Yellowstone National Park near Old Faithful geyser was 820 acres Thursday.

Engines will continue to assess the Old Faithful area for structure protection. Fire monitoring to analyze fire spread potential. Begin point protection of infrastructure and picnic area locations.

Fire is moving to the northeast with .5 mile spotting. The fire is expected to get close to Grand Loop Road which is currently closed from Old Faithful to West Thumb Junction.

The fire was started by lightning on Saturday.

38 firefighters are working the fire.
