Missouri River Fishing Report by Montana Troutfitters 9.30.20

Most reports from anglers on the Mo have been low fish quantity, but high fish quality. Hoppers are getting the occansional eat along with sporadic BWOs and October Caddis. Most good reports are on nymphs. Your typical tailwater bugs such as scuds, sow bugs, mayfly attractors, caddis and soft hackles are getting the job done. Long leaders and drifts have been the ticket if you can stay out of the weeds. The further you stray from the dam the more weeds you’ll run into, this makes throwing anything other than dries rather difficult. Streamer fishing both on the strip and swing has been good and should get better as we move into fall. Smaller, flashy flies have been the ticket.
