A Miles City company that manufactures and distributes gunpowder for reloaders has been sold to a national brand. Western Powders Inc. was the purveyor of powders such as Ramshot, Accurate, Blackhorn and X-Treme. Now those brands will be carried by Hodgdon Powder Co., which is based in Kansas. That may be a win for reloaders since Hodgdon has access to more retailers. The Miles City company was founded as a family business in Roundup, concentrating on explosives for the oil and mining industries. Hodgdon began when the founder bought leftover gunpowder from World War II and began packaging it for resale.
