2009 Perch Pounder Perch Pounder update
From Gene Fincher:
This is an update on the 6th Annual Perch Pounder being held at the Scoreboard Pub & Casino in Kalispell.
We ended our second full week of fishing on Saturday with Bob Poore of Kalispell in first place for the week with a 1.364 pound perch and George Strickle with a 1.312 pound perch for second place for the week.
Yesterday (Sunday 2/15) started our third week with fish brought in. Leading so far for the third week is Rod Pierce with a 1.242 pound perch, and Bob Poore with a 1.172 pound perch. Overall, Bob Poore is still leading the tournament with his 1.364 pound perch with Jack Hegal in second with his 1.322 pounder.
Still lots of time to sign up as we still have two weeks to go.
Right now Smith Lake has been the hot spot for fishing with upper Thompson and Lower Stillwater Lake showing some nice perch along with Pablo Reservoir.
The sixth annual Perch Pounder Ice Fishing Derby is being held once out of the Scoreboard Pub & Casino in Kalispell. The derby runs from Sunday February 1 through Saturday February 28 till 3:00 p.m. At this time we will be awarding the cash prizes to the winners. This is a 100% payback.
Fish will be weighed in from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day at the Scoreboard (756-8888).
The derby is open to all region one lakes and sloughs. All Montana fishing regulations must apply. A bonus of $500 will be paid to anyone who breaks the state record during the derby. (The state record is 2.389 lbs). For more information, contact Fincher at (406) 261-6445.
