Ice Fishing Derby at Duck Lake
MORS
The annual derby sponsored by the Babb/St. Mary Volunteer Fire Department will be held on February 13 and 14, 2010. The fire department members are looking forward to sharing a day of fun, fishing, prize drawings, 50/50 ticket drawings, food available at the concessions stand and swapping stories with our neighbors.
The entry fee is $20.00 in U. S. funds per person to fish for an hour or for the entire weekend. On Saturday the derby hours are 8:00 am through 5:00 pm, and on Sunday, from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. Tickets will be available at the lake on both days.
In the adult category, the four longest fish caught will earn cash prizes. First place will be $700.00, second place $400.00, third place $200.00 and fourth place $100.00.
There will be a children’s category with a first place prize of $25.00 for the children that pay a $20.00 entry fee and fish. The four longest fish caught by children will earn cash prizes. Second place $20.00, third place $15.00 and fourth place $10.00.
There will be free prizes for each child that attends. They need to stop by the office and register when they arrive. All children need to be supervised by an accompanying adult.
ATV’s and snow machines may be used to pull ice houses out onto the lake - at your own risk. No recreational riders on the lake will be allowed. A 5 mph speed limit will be enforced.
This event is a fund-raiser for expenses and equipment for the fire department. Everyone is encouraged to make donations of money, memorials, or prizes to be awarded in the drawings that will be held through out both days. A sponsorship board will be posted advertising and recognizing anyone that makes a donation.
Contact the Fire Chief, Stormy Burns or Lucy Walter at 406 338 5087 to make arrangements for donations to be collected or to get further information about the derby.
