Mixed Reports in the Eastern Montana Fishing Report: 4/3/12

Please be advised that warm weather has been   making   precarious  high wind  conditions meaning caution should be used in the  waters .   Call the contact person in the area you are planning on fishing for current daily information. ***Bob-Bob’s Bait Shop 1406- 429-2086

Crooked Creek Fort Peck Reservoir

“Fishing is real slow.”  Bob says, “ They are catching some northern, catfish, and sauger but the guys have had to fight the rain and wind. ,” he explains.  My shop will now be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hell Creek-Fort Peck Reservoir

Fishing for northern is good in 25 ft water  by the shore.  They are using jigs and minnows.  Walleyes are starting to  pick up.  It is not a hot bite.  The water is 41 degrees right now.

Fort Peck Reservoir Dam/Bear Creek/Pines/

Gene Moore, of Lake Ridge says, “   Fishing   is really, really  good.   From Hinsdale to Nasha  on the milk river and below the power house to Culberson  fishing is absolutely great!   They are catching walleye, sauger and northerns on gigs and minnows.”    ”  “The shore is just as good as the boat fishing right now” Gene explains.   They are catching on jigs, minnows and  lindy rigs.

***West Side Sports – Dan 1-406-654-1611 

Nelson, Forchette

Dan at West Side Sports tells us.”  Nelson  and  Forchette Bay are not great fishing right now.”  “The water temperature is still pretty cold.”  he says.

***Deadmans and Martinsdale

Justin says,” Martinsdale   is   pretty good but not great. They are catching mostly on the North shore.   ” Almost all rainbows and occasionally a brown   was caught using worms.

Deadman   has started   picking up with the   rainbow fishing.

*** Silos Marina Sharon  266-3100

Canyon Ferry

“ We have had lots of wind.  The water temperature is 46 degrees. There has been activity on the South end.  Some of the walleye are starting to spawn. Still catching some trout,” Sharon says.  “Getting in and out of the bay is just fine.  We are getting leaches in this week “  Sharon tells us.

***Minnow bucket  Allen Camarillo  348-2440

Allen Camarillo says,”   People are catching on the Yellowstone.    The ling bite is slowing down.  Catfish and   small mouth are picking up.  They are using jigs and minnows.”

***Lake Elmo  Billings

On Lake Elmo   people  are  fishing from shore and  the dock and catching  fish.  Time  to get the kids out.

***Cooney

                 They are catching rainbows from shore.  The water level is coming up substantially.   “ They have seen   walleyes being caught here and there,” Nick says. The docks are up for use.

Lewistown East Fork Reservoir

Dave says, “They are catching catfish and northern pike from shore at Crooked Creek using minnows. ”    “If you’re a fly fisherman Spring Creek is fishing good on nymphs and bead head Princeton right now.   On the  Missouri River ling, sturgeon and sauger are being caught especially at the rapids with night crawlers.

***Bob Peterson-

Tongue River Reservoir

Bob says, “.  People haven’t been out much yet its just too slow. ”   The marina will be open on weekends now.”
