It was a day that was created three years ago and because of its popularity is now an annual event. What I am referring to is the annual free day of outdoor seminars with topics ranging from fishing walleyes to lake trout to taking a kid fishing to a new and improved way of creating S’more fun while you are camping. This year all four seminars will be held at Bretz RV this coming Saturday May 5th.
Back by popular demand is Bob Hickey from Kalispell who was named Montana Tournament Circuit angler of the year in 2006. To add to his awards fishing last year Hickey and his fishing partner captured the Team of the Year honors for the circuit. Hickey is back after a standing room only crowd last year enjoyed his seminar, which was packed with tips and techniques on how to catch walleyes. Hickey’s seminar will start at 10am and include tips on jigging, trolling crank baits as well as worm and leech harnesses. Hickey will also point out some of the best walleye lakes in Montana and the best time of the year to fish them. The All-Around Outdoorsman Grant Soukup serves up several appetizing and fresh S’more tips and recipes at 12pm. These essential and unique S’mores were born over the flames of many campfires. Whether with family or friends S’mores provide a delicious and sweet memory. You will be able to make your next campfire a real hit using Grant’s ideas, stories, and tricks to help you create your own special S’mores and memories.
Then at 1pm Captain Bob Orsua and Matt McCombs from Mo Fisch Charters from Lakeside on Flathead Lake will cover the fishing techniques that you need while trolling for lake trout. “We fish the lake almost every day throughout the year and we have discovered some great fishing tips that I will be passing along to people attending the seminar”, added Orsua, “We also get asked about the perch and whitefish fishing on Flathead Lake so we will cover that too!”And finally Soukup shows you how “Schooling Kids on Fishing” is a lot easier than you might think at 2:30pm. He will share many of his tips and tricks that will help catch your limit of fun while getting hooked on fishing. “Time spent outdoors is priceless and having things to enjoy together is the bait that takes us to those favorite fishing holes with our kids”, said Soukup. He also gives this friendly warning “Don’t come to this seminar unless you are ready for a life-long, healthy addiction to fun”.
I for one am excited to hear all the information this Saturday on how to catch more fish and have more fun while camping in the outdoors. But the best part of clinics is they are all free to attend. I will also be there to answer any questions about fishing. So I hope you can make it to the free fishing seminars at Bretz RV and Marine this Saturday from 10am-3:30pm located on 4800 Grant Creek Road in Missoula.
