The FWP Commission gave permission for the Fish Wildlife and Parks to seek public input on a Draft Statewide Fisheries Management Plan.

What is a Statewide Fisheries Management Plan?

  • It will provide a collective vision and “road map” for managing the state’s fisheries.
  • It will identify overarching goals for fisheries management, habitat protection and improvement, fishing access and angling opportunities.
  • It will also guide priority-setting and decision-making for the different waters in the state.
  • It will provide overarching guidance to the public and the decision-makers when considering choices for a particular drainage.
  • It will provide enough detail and direction to inform the reader about the management direction for a drainage but allow for flexibility and discretion where appropriate.
