Time to Get Out and Hunt: MORS Weekly Wrap Up
By Matt Schauer

Posted: October 21, 2012

Hunting season is in full swing!  This weekend the Captain is out elk hunting and hopefully he will return with stories of a monster bull elk. If not, at least he’ll have a good story.  It’s all about the hunting experience…right?

There is cool weather and the chance of snow this week across Montana, so that should help the hunter’s in the field. Have fun and stay safe out there.  Check out our 2012 MT Elk Outlook here and also the 2012 Deer Hunting Outlook here.

If you have a successful hunt, submit your story for a chance to win story of the month.  12 year old Kaiden Thomas harvested a nice whitetail buck on the opening day of the youth hunt.  You can read his story and see a picture of his buck here.

This week, our most popular story on www.MontanaOutdoor.com was about the Record Bull Moose Encountering a Grizzly Bear.  Another story that got a lot of feedback was the clueless North Dakota gal that wanted deer crossing signs moved.  The video has almost 6 million views on Youtube and The Huffington Post reposted  it, one day after you saw it on www.MontanaOutdoor.com.

Bruce Storlie caught a massive catfish after a 30 minute fight.  Without a scale large enough to weigh it, Storlie snapped a picture and released the fish. It may have been larger than the state record of 30.12 pounds, but we’ll never know.  Congratulations Storlie for catching a fish of a lifetime.

Also, congratulations to Ken Simmons, of Escalon, CA, and Brian Stahl, of Standford, MT! They were the latest winners on the Kendall Four Seasons Subaru statewide trivia. Be sure to tune in to the Montana Outdoor Radio Show for your chance to win every Saturday morning.

Have good week and be safe!
