On Tuesday, the Idaho Constitution was forever changed when voters approved amendment HJR2. This guarantees every citizen the right to hunt, fish and trap.

The measure was overwhelming approved and had the support of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission.

Nebraska, Kentucky and Wyoming also voted on measures to add the constitutional right to hunt and fish.  Wyoming, like Idaho, included the right to trap.

13 other states have a constitutional protection for the right to hunt and fish:

  • Alabama
  • Arkansas
  • Louisiana
  • Georgia
  • Minnesota
  • Montana
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • Wisconsin
