FISHING REPORT 12-11-12

Bill Hinrichs – Rock Creek Marina

No one is  right now. There is a bit of ice on the back bay but it is ’A to 1 inch thick. There is nothing on the front bay.

Clint at Hell Creek

No report and no answer with phone or answering machine

Cooney Reservoir – Jenny

The whole reservoir is iced over, but the ice is very thin. Just not safe to go on yet. The docks have been pulled.

Deadmans/Martinsdale – Justin

No ice fishing yet. Just too thin, but getting close.

Deadmans has no ice yet and if since Sunday there is any just too thin to go on.

D0n’s Lewistown – Charlie

Ice is way to thin to walk on. The ponds are frozen but way too thin.

Spring Creek has open water, and fly fishermen are using panther martins, mepps and spinners. All are working well.

Lake Ridge Motel – Gene Moore

“Nelson is fishing good. It is cold up here that is for sure, ” Gene says. There is ice on the reservoir towards Malta. Dredge cuts and below power plant is still fishing okay. They are catching walleyes and perch.

Crooked Creek – Grant

According to Nate at Scheels, Crooked Creek has ice but the water is really shallow, 4 to 5 feet deep. They are catching Northern Pike there. No supplies available at this time.

Lake Elmo – Bob

No fishing here right now. It is froze over 90 percent but paper thin. There are still open areas. Right now the fun is seeing the hundreds of geese on the thin ice.

Lewistown Sgoris – Dave

No ice on the water. Very thin only a 1/2 inch thick if any. All of the water around here is not ready for ice fishing.

Minnow Bucket – Allen

People are saying the Southend is fishing good. Guys are coming in here for big minnows to use there.

People are fishing at Nelson up by Malta he has heard. Someone caught a big pike there he was told.

Silos – Sharon

There is almost ice to walk on. I think if we give it a few more days it will be ready. A few people are shore fishing but as the ice cornes that is diminishing. Feel free to call for a ice report.

Tongue – Bob Pederson

On the south end it is forming good enough ice to get on. There is ice on Rattlesnake. They are catching walleye and crappîe over to the mine office. The bay is walking only use. The North end is open water. The far north was starting to close on Friday but not safe at all. The gates on the south end have been added to the fence in 2 places off the highway. You must close the gate and walk in only are the rules.

Westside Sports – Dan

Nelson has ice and people are catching pike and Northerns. The ice is 10 inches and they are using minnows to catch fish. The west end is not on too much.

Forchette is not frozen yet.

Billings Scheels – Nate

The Yellowstone River towards Nelson has big chunks of ice now.

There is ice fishing at Crooked Creek, but of course the water is only 4 to 5 feet deep. He has heard they are catching Northern Pike.

Nelson Reservoir by Malta has ice of 10 to 12 inches right now. They are catching perch, northern pike and waìleye. One guy said the tip ups were catching them so fast that he started jigging because he could not keep up.
