Plan to visit Big Pine Fishing Access Site (FAS) near Alberton this Saturday, June 15 for a children’s program on bears. The free program begins at 10am.

The Missoula-based Great Bear Foundation will share fun facts about bears and provide tips on how to be bear safe at home and while hiking and camping. An adult must accompany all program participants.

To reach Big Pine FAS, take I90 Exit 66 and then head south to Fish Creek Road. Follow the signs to Big Pine, approximately 4.5 miles from the exit. Visitors should park in the lot to the left when entering the campground.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks volunteer, Valerie Bayer, says that Big Pine will also host a children’s program on birds on Saturday, July 13 beginning at 10am. Participants will enjoy hands-on discovery and crafts while learning to identify western Montana birds. For more information on Big Pine FAS events, contact Bayer at 406-722-1533 or FWP at 406-542-5500.
