Upland Game Bird and Big Game Hunting Season Dates

Opening day for most of Montana’s upland game bird hunting seasons occur on the same day every year—Sept. 1. The exception is for pheasants. The 2013 general pheasant season opens Oct. 12.

Here are the statewide hunting-season dates for upland game birds:

  • Sept. 1-Jan. 1, 2014
    • Mountain grouse
    • Partridge
    • Sharp-tailed grouse
    • Turkey (fall season)
  • Sept. 1-Nov. 1
    • Sage grouse
  • Sept. 21-22
    • Youth Only Special Pheasant Weekend
  • Oct. 12-Jan. 1, 2014
