Fall is officially here this week in Montana. The nights have cooled off and frost has started clinging to car windshields in the early morning. We even had some snow accumulation in southwest Montana. The photo below is from the Polaris, Montana area earlier this week. The leaves should start turning any day now!

If you missed the Montana Outdoor Radio show Saturday morning we recapped some of the fishing summaries from around the state:

Bill Brown at Bob Wards says they have the hunting tags and regulations for Montana’s hunters.  Fishing in the area Brown’s Lake is doing well. Chancy at Snappy’s says a lot of guys trout fishing Swan Lake trolling the shoreline.  Dale from Don’s in Lewistown says there’s some excellent action on Spring Creek. John Harris from Lakeside Resort says the browns are starting to move up in the creeks and folks are doing well. Leonard from Robert’s Bait and Tackle says Holter is still doing really good; a lot of nice 12-14 inch perch being caught around the Flat. Robert from Malta Marine says fishing on Nelson is picking up. Ron Aashiem of Montana FWP reminds us of the need for Federal and State Stamps for water fowl now that Water Fowl Season is open; for more information go to fwp.mt.gov. Ryan from Bob Wards in Bozeman says a longer leader (about 12ft) is recommended for Fall fishing, In Helena Ryan says most area river and stream restriction have been lifted, and the Mighty Mo is producing.  Woody from Woody’s Lures in Townsend says the rain has really helped out the rivers, and the Yellowstone, Shields, Big Hole and others are doing really well.
