The Rodeo Run Sled Dog Races is a two-day sled dog race in West Yellowstone, and it kicks off today with a “meet the mushers” party from 6:00pm to 7:00pm outside the Wild West Pizzeria. This race attracts entrants ranging from novices to Iditarod veterans; spectators are welcome and it is free to the public.
Races start at 9:00am Friday and Saturday. Spectators can watch the race at the starting line in town or at any designated checkpoints along the trail.
The main event starts right in West Yellowstone, Montana, the Rodeo Run Sled Dog Races feature 4, 6, 8, and 12 dog teams racing varying distances.
Schedule of Events:
Thursday, December 12th, 2013 The Christmas Stroll will kick off the fun with the 10th annual “Parade of Lights” at 5:30pm then Meet the Mushers from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. There will be plenty of festivities for the kids and a Poker Stroll for the big Kids (21 & over). Bring the kids and your camera for the free Sled Dog Photo Shoot during the stroll.
Friday & Saturday, December 13th & 14th, 2013 Races start at 9:00am each day at the “Old Airport” just off of Iris Street. Come early and watch the excitement build as the teams prepare for the race.
