Holter Perch Catch Very Close to State Record!

10151029_10151907747575947_1475641675_nNeal Cote, of Bite Me Flies, was fishing at Holter Reservoir on Wednesday, March 26th, in 20 feet of water, using a Northland minnow jig, and was pretty happy to get some bites on the end of his line.  One of the perch he reeled in nearly broke the Montana state record!  This toad of a fish weighed a whopping 2.36 pounds and measured right at 14 inches!  The current Montana state record for yellow perch is 2.39 pounds and 14.375 inches long.  “I weighed it on every scale in Albertson’s to make sure,” said Cote.

If the one huge perch wasn’t enough, he also caught another monster that wasn’t quite as big as the other one, but still very nice as you can see from the picture below.  Awesome catches, Neal!
