Hunting:

Big Game general hunting season is winding down with just this weekend through next weekend left. It is time to get out there and look for that big elk or deer. The deer are in the rut strong, chasing does all over the bottoms. The elk are coming down from the summer range.

Water fowl is doing well. The ponds and backwaters on the river are freezing up. The birds are coming down from the north, so get out there and have some fun!

Fishing:

Missouri River: Temperature has plummeted and the wind is blowing. Fishing on the big “Mo” has slowed down because of the cold weather. Nymph fishing is so-so. If you’re going to use nymphs try throwing Lightning Bugs, Czech nymphs, or Pheasant Tails. Streamers are productive, try a strip and pause with zonkers, black buggers, or sculpins. Most of the bugs have been livelier in the evenings so during the day don’t hesitate to have some fun with streamers as well.
